"OM"

The syllable AUM, represented by the symbol as seen on the right is described as an all-encompassing mystical entity in the Upanishads. This leads us to the most ancient sacred mantra of this world for the Hindus.
The Gayatri Mantra
Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
Dhiyo Yonaha Pracho Dayat.
(The Meaning)
Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life,
Remover of pain and sorrow, The Bestower of happiness,
Oh! Creator of Universe, May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light.
May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

These same mantras filled the US Senate as it opened its session yesterday.

Washington was the latest of six Western state senates that Zed has opened in Hindu prayer, each reportedly for the first time, in the past eight months.
